Public transport fares rise in Tashkent
Uzbekistan, Tashkent, April 1 / Trend, D. Azizov /
The Toshshahartranshizmat Association, managing urban passenger transportation, has increased Tashkent's fares for public transport from 500 soums to 600 soums, a 20 percent increase, as of Friday.
The new rate is set for transportation on city buses, trams and metro, as well as buses of suburban routes within the city boundaries.
Accordingly, the price of monthly tickets for different population categories has also been increased.
The Toshshahartranshizmat Association explains that the fare increase results from an increase in costs in fuel, lubricants and spare parts.
The fare was previously increased in April 2010.
