Shazand oil refinery gasoline production capacity will attain 12 million liters per day in August 2011, Shana reported quoting the Project Manager of Shazand oil Refinery Rashid Seyedian as saying.

According to Seyedian, currently the project has progressed generally by 93.5 percent.

Seyedian said by implementation of the upgrading plan, octane number of the regular gasoline would be increased to at least 90 and that of super gasoline to at least 95.

The plan intends to change production pattern of oil products from middle distillate to gasoline, to upgrade quantity and quality of oil products and to reduce pollution, Seyedian added.

The gasoline produced by the Shazand oil refinery will be compatible with euro-5 specifications and gas oil with euro-4 specifications, Seyedian said.

"Some $3 billion has been allocated and another $500 will be provided from domestic resources to complete the project ," Seyedian added.

By completion of the development plan, Shazand oil refinery will be the first Iranian oil refinery changing 90 percent of its crude oil inputs to the high value products including liquefied gas, gasoline, gas oil, propylene and kerosene and just 8.4 percent of the crude oil will be converted to fuel oil and bitumen.

By implementation of development plan, daily liquefied gas production capacity will increase from 1 million liters to 3.6 million liters, Super gasoline production capacity from 1 million liters to 3.7 million liters, regular gasoline production capacity from 3.7 million liters to 12.3 million liters, kerosene production from 4.2 million liters to 6 million liters and gas oil production capacity from 7.4 million liters to 8.9 million liters.

The refinery also plans to increase sulfur production from 50 tons to 650 million tons a day while to reduce fuel oil production from 6 million liters to 2.4 million liters a day.
