Georgia, Tbilisi, April 18 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

Traffic along the Georgian-Russian border has resumed, the administration of the Georgian Mtskheta-Tianeti region told Trend.

The Upper Lars checkpoint is the only legal land-crossing point between Russia and Georgia. There were dozens of cars along the border.

The cars are already able to move through the checkpoint; the lorries will move later, the administration told Trend.

The Upper Lars checkpoint, located on the North Ossetian section of the state border between Russia and Georgia, was closed on April 12 at the request of the Georgian side due to much snow on Krestovy Pass.

Later the Russian side cleaned and reopened the road. It was again closed by the Georgian side due to danger concerns from avalanches.

There is no danger of avalanches now.
