GDP increases 0.8 percent in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan's GDP increased by 0.8 percent in January-April 2011 compared to the same period of 2010, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported. In current prices, the GDP indicator reached 13.7 billion manat. The GDP per capita amounted to 1522.5 manat ($1916.3).

The share of the non-oil sector, which increased by 6.2 percent during the year, hit 47.2 percent of the GDP (6.5 billion manat).

The total production volume in all sectors of the economy decreased by 2.5 percent and hit 64.7 percent of the GDP, with 55.9 percent of the GDP (7.66 billion manat) accounting for industry.

Agriculture, hunting and forestry provided 395.4 million manat in January-April, or 2.9 percent of the non-oil sector GDP. Construction provided 811.1 million manat (5.9 percent), transportation and warehousing - 931.3 million manat (7.8 percent), communication and post services - 260 million manat (1.9 percent), and social and other services - 1.5 billion manat (11.1 percent).

The official exchange rate is 0.7908 manat to $1 on May 13.
