The Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes completes the first phase of certification for taxpayers and business entities, deputy minister of taxes Sahib Alakbarov told media.
"The process of certification is underway," Alakbarov said. "The first phase is under completion. The problematic areas have already been defined and concrete actions will soon be taken in this direction."
Alakbarov said that the ministry found the business entities and facilities unregistered with the tax authorities, though this will soon be changed.
Expanding the tax base and creating a favorable business environment are the primary aims of certification, as well as of specifying the database. This process will continue until the end of the year.
The process of certification of tax-payers in the country began on February 1, 2011. At present, about 365,000 taxpayers have been registered, including 108,000 business entities.
