Iran's aquatics export hit $160 billion

Iran increased aquatics export in volume and value by 32.5 percent and 66.1 percent respectively last solar year (end March 20, 2011), IRNA reported quoting Deputy of Programming Iran Fisheries Organization Seyed Aminullah Taghavi Motlagh as saying.

"The revenues from aquatic export reached $160 billion last solar year," he said.

Iran 's trade balance from aquatic export hit $70 billion.

According to Taghavi Motlagh, hydrothermal fish, shrimp, ornamental fish, canned fish and salmon have the highest share in aquatic export.

Iran 's annual aquatic consumption in last solar year had 13.2 percent growth while country's fisheries production was 660,000 tons.
