Kazakhstan, Astana, June 8 / Trend A. Maratov /
China is discussing the issue of transiting to yuan payments with Kazakhstan, Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhou Li said at a press conference in Astana.
China has already begun operations on the yuan payments with Russia, Li said, answering the journalists' questions about the prospects of transiting to yuan payments between Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries.
"The issue is still under discussion with Kazakhstan," he said. He said transiting to yuan payments is an important historical process, and the yuan as the unit of account reached certain success.
Founded in 2001 in Shanghai, China, the SCO groups China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
