All branches of Azerbaijani postal operator to be connected to public utilities payment system

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 16 /Trend, N.Ismayilova/

Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) within a year plans to connect all 1,600 branches of the Azerpocht postal operator to the KOMIS system (centralized information system for mass payments), the CBA said on Thursday.

"Today, 580 branches and departments of postal operator have been connected to the system, where it is possible to make payments. About 726 stations on financial services of 37 Azerbaijani banks have also connected to the KOMIS system," said the CBA.

According to information, the system has collected data on 4.5 million subscribers. In 2010, the total payments via the system were 183 million manat. The main organizations active in public services - BakiElektrikShebeke, Azeriqaz of SOCAR (State Oil Company), Azersu JSC, Azerenerji, SumqayitElektrikShebeke - have connected to the system.

KOMIS was established by the Central Bank in 2008 on the basis of the information system CheckFree i-Series.
