First large farms in Azerbaijan will be created in the low-lying irrigated regions of the country, Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Ismat Abasov said on Friday.

He said initially it is planned to establish large farms in an area of 100,000 hectares in low-lying irrigated regions of the country, the State Committee for Land and Cartography is working to check the efficiency of these lands.

"After completing these checks we will hold discussions in the government, after which they will be created," Abasov said.

"It depends on their area. The main thing is not quantity, but their efficiency," Abasov said.
