Uzbekistan to invest about $30 million in expansion of Angren logistics center

The Uzbek government has approved a project worth $29.3 million to expand the capacities of the Angren Logistics Center, carrying out transport operations in the Fergana Valley (the eastern part of the country), a source in the government told Trend with reference to the relevant resolution of the Cabinet.

The two-year project (2011-2012) provides for the construction of a new transit-cargo terminal in a 7.2 hectares land area with a capacity of processing up to 51,000 containers per year. Today, the area of the transit freight terminal center is 8.6 hectares. The project cost is $4.3 million.

Moreover, significant expansion of logistics center's fleet is planned to occur by 2013. One-hundred-ninety container trucks totaling $25 million will be purchased from the Uzbek-German JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan. The center previously acquired 250 tractors MAN worth $36.5 million in 2010.

The project will be funded by the Angren Logistics Center.
