The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry has started monitoring of hotels and tourism facilities in the country's regions, the ministry's tourism department head Vugar Shikhmammadov told Trend on Wednesday.
"Monitoring began two days ago and now is held in the north-western Azerbaijan. In the coming days monitoring of tourism facilities will begin in the north and south of the country," Shikhmammadov said.
He said the ministry has set up the monitoring commission to study the level of quality of services provided by tourism facilities to local and foreign tourists, ratio of price and quality of service and other existing problems in the summer tourism season in the country's regions.
"According to preliminary data, a 10-15-percent price reduction is observed in services provided by the hotels in the regions in this season compared to the same period last year," Shikhmammadov said.
He said the process has just begun, so the information about revealed violations cannot be disclosed yet.
