Inflation in Kazakhstan hit 0.5 percent in August 2011, the Kazakh Statistics Agency reported.

Inflation in Kazakhstan hit 0.5 percent in August 2011, the Kazakh Statistics Agency reported.

According to the agency, prices for food products last month decreased by 0.1 percent, while non-food products and paid services increased by 0.5 percent.

Last month prices were reduced for fruit and vegetables by 6 percent, fresh vegetables by 10.1 percent, potato by 9.1 percent, fruits by 1.4 percent, raw milk by 0.8 percent, fresh fish by 0.4 percent, and the price of sugar decreased by 0.3 percent.

Prices rose for egg by 2.6 percent, meat and poultry by 1.9 percent, cereals by 0.9 percent, confectionery by 0.7 percent, bakery and floury confectionery by 0.5 percent, soft drinks by 0.4 percent, and pasta by 0.3 percent.

Gasoline prices rose by 3.1 percent, while diesel fuel prices rose by 4 percent.
Prices for passenger transportation services rose by 2.3 percent, health - 0.5 percent, education and culture - by 0.2 percent.
