Surplus of Azerbaijani foreign trade turnover reaches $12 bln

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC) announced the results of Azerbaijan's foreign trade operations with 146 world countries during the first eight months, the SCC said.

The country's total trade turnover was $23.661 billion, an increase of 31.66 percent since last year.

The foreign trade surplus was $11.935 billion.

Foreign trade operations involved 3,294 legal entities and 3,056 physical persons (a total of 6,350) during the period.

Export operations hit $17.798 billion, increasing by 27.59 percent compared to the same period of 2010.

The state sector share in exports totaled $17.003 billion, private shares totaled $0.701 billion, and physical entities totaled $94.48 million.

In January-August, the import operations' value was $5.863 billion, increasing by 45.76 percent compared to the same period in 2010.

The share of imports in the state sector totaled $2.09 billion, $3.49 billion in the private sector, and $279.48 million in physical entities.

During the first eight months of this year, Azerbaijan exported 1,751 items of goods and imported 5,657 items.
