The government and parliament conduct consultations on sale of the Georgian railway, said the chairman of the parliamentary committee on sectoral economy Giorgi Meladze.

He said regarding the Oil and Gas Corporation, the law has a clause that the controlling share in the Corporation must remain in state ownership. As for the railway, consultations are being conducted with the government in this regard.

The Parliament is discussing amendments to the law on state property, which will enable to present part of shares of state enterprises to the world stock exchanges. Furthermore, the Parliament was presented a bill amending the law on oil and gas, according to which, if earlier the Company had to own 75 percent of shares, now this rate will drop to 51 percent.
