As part of the project on technical design of logistics processes and marine routes of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea of the TRACECA transport corridor (Europe-Caucasus-Asia), works will be conducted for the resumption of container flows via Poti-Tbilisi-Baku route and onward to Central Asia to the Chinese border, TRACECA national secretary from Azerbaijan Akif Mustafayev told Trend on Monday.
According to him, conducting related researches and designing on this issue is necessary in terms of stabilizing the flow of container from the Black Sea ports to Azerbaijan and then via the Caspian Sea to Central Asia.
"These studies will be conducted within the technical design of logistics processes and marine routes project. The studies in this regard will be advisory, and the revitalization of the state structures of countries - participants of TRACECA is required to implement these," said Mustafayev.
Also as part of this technical project, research will be conducted in the field of ferry and ro-ro-service on the routes of the Baku-Aktau and Baku-Turkmenbashi. "This is necessary from the point of view of the competitiveness of transportation via these routes," said Mustafayev.
According to him, the implementation of new technical project of TRACECA started in the second quarter of this year, and will be implemented over three years. During this time, researches, analysis, training on this question will be conducted and the TRACECA member countries will be presented proposals and recommendations.
TRACECA is an international transport cooperation program between the EU and its Partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. It has a permanent Secretariat in Baku, Azerbaijan. The cooperation framework covers the areas of maritime transport, aviation, road and rail, transport security, and transport infrastructure.
Currently, TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Iran.
