Azerbaijan to produce first ships and floating facilities in 2013

It is projected that in 2015 Azerbaijan will produce ships and floating facilities in amount of 100.9 million manat, according to the draft state budget for 2012 and the next three years, presented for consideration to the Azerbaijani Parliament.

Production of ships and floating facilities in the country will begin from 2013. In 2013, ships and floating facilities in the country will be produced at about 53.5 million manats.

Currently, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) is building a new shipyard.

The new shipyard of SOCAR will provide the ship needs not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the whole water area of the Caspian Sea. The first vessel will be launched in 2013.

The area of the new plant will be 880,000 square meters, the area of the closed production area - 75,000 square meters. The length of the berths will be 1,300 meters. The investments in construction total $450 million.

The plant's capacity is 25,000 tons of metalware per year. It can annually produce four tankers with deadweight of 15,000 tons, or two tankers with deadweight of 70,000 tons. Also the plant can produce annually four ships of maritime security and ensure repairs and towing of 80-100 vessels of different purposes.
