Kazakhstan to attract 3,000 foreign grain carriers

Kazakhstan will attract roughly 3,000 grain carriers from other countries to transport its record grain harvest by the end of October

Kazakhstan will attract roughly 3,000 grain carriers from other countries to transport its record grain harvest by the end of October, the spokesman of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy company Elena Trifonova told Trend by phone.

"Grain carriers from Russian companies Rusagrotrans and Baltic Trade House have already been delivered to Kazakhstan," Trifonova said.

Georgia is ready to help Kazakhstan with grain carriers. It will provide Kazakhstan with 100 empty grain carriers on leasing terms and 500 Georgian carriers more will be delivered through Uzbekistan after their unloading in that country, the Novosti-Kazakhstan reported, referring to Managing Director of Kazakh National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Kanat Almagambetov.

According to Trifonova, 500 boxcars and 700 grain carriers will be attracted from Uzbek railways. Some 513 grain carriers will be given by private companies.

"Kazakhstan is also considering possibility of the grain loading into wags of other modifications, including gondolas boxcars," Trifonova added.

According to Trifonova, grain inventory park currently stands at 5,200 wags, while demand for October-December is two times higher - 10,500.

This year Kazakhstan plans to harvest at least 22-23 million tons of grain in net weight.

Kazakhstan plans to export to foreign markets roughly 15 million tons of grain harvest of 2011, said Kazakh Deputy Minister of Agriculture Marat Tolibaev, the Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.
