Uzbekistan has called the Tajik government's statements into question.
The government said it adheres to WB agreements on the international expertise of the Rogun hydroelectric power station project. It will not start the initial phase of work to block the channel of the Vakhsh River without waiting for the final results of the expertise, the government said today.
The article in which the statements were made refuted the assertion that the technical feasibility, economic profitability, environmental safety of the Rogun hydroelectric power station was tested many times. This project has never received a negative evaluation.
The construction project was prepared in 1970s . No international expertise was conducted. The construction started in 1976. After the collapse of the SOviet Union, the work was terminated.
