The European Union is ready to support the improvement of the Azerbaijani Accounting Chamber's activity, EU ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia said at an event on Wednesday.
"We support Azerbaijan's measures to strengthen control over huge financial resources available in the country," he said. "The EU appreciates the Accounting Chamber's activity. This is an area where we can propose our support."
Chairman of the parliamentary committee on economic policy Ziyad Samadzade said that the transparency of the country's economy increases by improving the Chamber's activity. It plays an important role in Azerbaijan's integration into the global economy.
"The Azerbaijani state budget's expenses increased by more than 20 times for the last 20 years," he said. "Many people expressed concerns that the growth of budget expenditures may create certain problems in the country related to inflation, increasing the budget deficit and so on. However, as a result of collaboration between the finance ministry, the ministry of economic development and the ministry of taxes, the Chamber and other bodies, these fears were not justified."
