The first container train 'Saule' has been launched to Lithuania from the Chinese city of Chongqing through Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport and Communications reported on Tuesday.

The 41-container train with office equipment has crossed today the border of Kazakhstan near Dostyk station.

An agreement on launching a train was reached at the 7th meeting of the Kazakh-Lithuanian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation held during the official visit of Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite to Kazakhstan.

'Saule' is a word common to both languages of cooperating countries. It means "the sun" in Lithuanian and "ray of the sun" in Kazakh language.

The container train will reach the destination passing via Russia and Belarus, onwards transporting goods to Scandinavian and other European countries via Klaipeda Seaport.

During Grybauskaite's visit to Kazakhstan running from October 5 to 8 a number of documents on cooperation between two countries were signed. The documents included an agreement in the field of education, science and culture, a readmission agreement and an agreement on cooperation between the agricultural ministries of both countries.
