Azerbaijani Transport Ministry to receive Baku Bay Bridge’s completed feasibility study by late 2011

Korean company Dongsung Engineering will submit completed version of feasibility study of the bridge over Baku Bay to the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry, head of economics and transport policy department of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Sadraddin Mammadov told Trend.

He said the project feasibility study has already been submitted to the Transport Ministry, which in turn has prepared its conclusions and proposals.

"At present, the Korean side is working on these proposals and by late 2011 they will submit the completed version," Mammadov said.

According to preliminary data, cost of Baku bay marine bridge would cost $1.8 billion.
If approved, an international consortium will be created that will operate on the principle of building - operation - transfer, which envisages investment by the consortium in the development, design, construction and operation of the bridge.

After the new bridge will repay funds invested in it, the consortium will transfer it to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is not supposed to invest in this project.

The process of preparation of the project can take two or three years, while the construction process - three years.
