Toyota Motor Corp said Wednesday it is recalling about 550,000 Lexus, Avalon, Alphard and other models, mostly in the United States, for possible faults related to the crankshaft pulley on the engine, DPA reported.
If the problem is not corrected, "the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley and the driver may notice a sudden increase in steering effort," Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc said.
The recall affects 420,200 vehicles in the US, 38,057 units in Japan and 14,000 in the rest of Asia, the carmaker said.
There have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problems, Toyota said.
