Kazakhstan can increase its revenue from the transit of goods to $1.5 billion by 2015, Novosti- Kazakhstan reported quoting Minister of Transport and Communications Berik Kamaliyev.
"In 2010, our total revenues from transiting goods amounted to roughly $900 million ... we want to increase the total revenue from the transit up to 1.5 billion by 2015," Kamaliyev said, speaking at the international conference TransEurasia-2011 in Astana.
According to Kamaliyev, 15 million tons of good were transited through Kazakhstan in 2010, including 14 million tons transported by rail.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications' target, the transit volume will increase to 25 million in 2015
The Ministry's other plans for this period include launching 15 new international routes, Kamaliyev said.
