Deputy Minister: Number of tourism companies in Azerbaijan does not meet market demands
Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov.12 /Trend, A. Akhundov /
Development of the tourism market in Azerbaijan requires an increase in the number of tourism companies, Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Vagif Aliyev told Trend on Friday.
"New companies operating in these spheres will be created by developing new tourism directions in Azerbaijan. For example, we have a great potential for scientific tourism, ecotourism, as well as medical tourism. New companies will be needed in these spheres," Aliyev said.
He said number of companies will be regulated by market demands.
Today there are about 207 licensed tourism agencies in Azerbaijan.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first half-year, 504 hotel and hotel-type facilities operated in Azerbaijan, 93.3 percent of which are private.
