Several state program to be adopted to develop Azerbaijani agrarian sector

Azerbaijan will adopt the state programs to develop tea growing, cotton growing, viticulture and winemaking, the Crop Production and Processing Control Department Chief Sabir Veliyev told Trend on Friday.

"The program for tea-growing has been developed," he said. "It will be approved by various ministries. Then it must be approved by the President."

He said that the program will cover the period from 2012 to 2022.

"It is planned to create the necessary infrastructure to develop tea-growing, to construct plants in the southern regions and to implement measures to support tea producers of tea within the program," he said.

He said that the programs are being worked out to develop cotton growing, viticulture and winemaking.

"They will also cover 10 years," he said. "The state programs may be prepared and adopted to develop other sectors of agriculture in case of necessity in the future."
