Georgia is the leading Eastern Partnership country, Siim Kalas, European Commission Vice-President for transport issues, told the President of Georgia at a meeting today.
He said aviation occupies an important position in the field of transport.
"We have been in talks with Ukraine and Azerbaijan in this direction. Observation of international standards is the indispensable condition in aviation. Now everything goes according to the plan, and I think Georgia will be able to receive a new aviation certificate in the near future," Kalas noted.
For his part, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili accentuated the importance of cooperation in the field of marine transport. He said 18,000 Georgian sailors must have the opportunity to work.
