Azerbaijan Railways has launched its new online ticket service for domestic and international passenger journeys on Monday.
Travellers can buy tickets online through the website, www.railway.gov.az by clicking on the online tickets section. Purchases can also be made using plastic cards.
Passengers can order the online tickets up to two hours before the train departs. A passenger must then come to the ticket office with a document confirming the order or identity to obtain the ticket one hour before the departure.
"The launch of online ticket services is very important in terms of quality of rendered services," Azerbaijan Railways head Arif Asgarov said on Monday.
He said that the introduction of the new system is one of the prime areas of the state programme on the railway infrastructure development in Azerbaijan.
