Georgian National Bank decreases its discount rate

The National Bank of Georgia on Tuesday decreased its annual discount rate by 25 basic points to 7 percent. The Bank's Monetary Policy Committee said inflation rate has lately been decreasing to a larger extent than expected.
In October, annual inflation rate decreased to 2.3 percent.
As reported by the Statistics Service of Georgia, inflation rate was 4.6 percent in September.
The Bank's Monetary Policy Committee reported that, as forecasted, inflation rate will remain low at the end of this year and in the first half of next year and "modest pace of growth of inflation rate is expected to begin next summer."
