Ukraine has offered to create a grain pool to Kazakhstan and Russia, Mykola Azarov Prime Minister said in an interview with Trend.

"It is possible to create a pool of grain which could include Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan in the future. Considering the fact that the demand for food in the world is growing steadily, it is a very topical issue. Our countries can play an important role, offering its resources and opportunities to the world, "Mr Azarov said.

According to Mr Azarov, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are not grain competitors.

"First of all we have a different class of grain. Ukraine has cornmeal and inKazakhstan the grain comes with high gluten content and is valued and sold as improved flour quality," Mr Azarov said.

Other export products with greater value added are pasta, bread, semi-finished products that can be produced by mixing the Ukrainian and Kazakh grain. Produce is much closer to consumers in Europe, North Africa and in the Middle East.

"In addition, the issue of purchasing the grain terminal on the Black Sea by Kazakhstan is still important to us. The last sentence, which is made by the president of Ukraine is to create a terminal on an equal funding" Mr Azarov said.

The location of the grain terminal depends on Kazakhstan, either in Crimea or Odessa, or in the Mykolayiv region, where there are deep-water ports.
