Gunmen have attacked an Egyptian pipeline that transports gas to Israel and Jordan, the eighth such incident since a popular uprising forced president Hosny Mubarak to step down in February, DPA reported.
A blast went off at the pipeline on Thursday in the al-Rawda village, some 45 kilometres west of the al-Arish city in Egypt's northern Sinai Peninsula.
No one claimed responsibility for the blast, which hit a section of the pipeline that was not operational because of a previous attack, said a source at the Gasco company, which runs the pipeline.
Security forces said they were searching for the suspects, believed to be members of a militant Islamist group.
