A team of the World Bank (WB) led by Frank Van Verden, Project Group Head, will visit Azerbaijan in December to review the implementation of the hard waste management project in Azerbaijan, the WB Baku Office told Trend on Tuesday.
The team will be on the visit on December 8-13.
The WB thinks the project is a success as confirmed by the outcome of works done at the Balakhany hard waster polygon whose conditions differ from what was observed here two years ago.
The WB Executive Board approved the project in June 2008. The project, begun in 2009, is likely to be completed at the end of September 2013. The project is valued at a total of $41.5 million, including $29.5 million as WB loan and the rest to be financed by the Government of Azerbaijan. As of September 2011, of $29.5 million assigned by the WB, $4.5 million have been spent and $25 million remain unspent.
