The Final Protocol of the 40th meeting of the CIS Interstate Standardization, Metrology and Certification Council was signed in Baku on Tuesday.

Key issues on the meeting's agenda were preparation of a plan of actions up to 2015 and Council's strategy up to 2020; examination of the draft agreement of interstate technical regulations in CIS states; preparation of interstate normative documents on the basis of international standards, etc.

Ramiz Hasanov, Chairman of the State Standardization, Metrology and Patents Committee of Azerbaijan, said the meeting aims at preparation and adoption of common interstate standards for the CIS.

The meeting is attended by representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, and Poland.

In addition, the State Standardization, Metrology and Patents Committee of Azerbaijan and the Standardization Committee of Poland signed agreement of cooperation in the field of standardization.

The agreement envisions intensification of cooperation aimed to eliminate technical barriers in trade between the two countries and bring the national standards of the two nations in line with the international ones.
