Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov.29 / Trend, A.Akhundov /

Detection of high radiation background in a batch of coal supplied to Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan will not affect bilateral relations, Kyrgyz Deputy Minister on Economic Regulation Oleg Pankratov told Trend on Tuesday.

"We have traditional good neighborly relations with Kazakhstan. There are some points that are addressed as a matter of routine procedure. There was a problem, coal with high radioactivity was supplied. Now this issue is addressed, the supply was suspended and investigation is now underway. I do not think it a great problem, both countries have the will to address," Pankratov said.

Previously, LLP "Kulan TB" supplied 80,000 tons of coal from Kulan deposit (Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan) to Bishkek heat station, which was found to be radioactive. According to the commission's conclusion, coal radiation background is 8-10 times higher than normal.
Kazakh Prosecutor General filed a criminal case due to detection of high radiation background in a batch of coal supplied to Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan.

Coal with high radiation background is found in the criminal case as evidence.
