Uzbekistan receives last A-320 aircraft under contract with Airbus

Uzbek national airline Uzbekistan Havo Yullari (Uzbekistan Airways) has received the last of ten purchased A-320 aircrafts, the Uzbek airline said on Friday.

As it was reported earlier, in 2007-2008 Uzbek airline signed contracts with Boeing to purchase four Boeing 767-300ER aircrafts and two Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner aircrafts, as well as with Airbus Industrie to purchase ten A-320-200 aircrafts worth $1.027 billion.

The cost of the contract with Airbus Industrie amounted to $449.5 million.
The country received the first of ten A-320 aircrafts in July 2010. The contract to supply Boeing aircrafts is being executed.

The airline said that two Boeing 767-300ER aircrafts will be received in January-February 2012 and in 2013. Date of delivery of Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner aircrafts is not reported.
Purchase of new equipment for the airline is funded by Uzbekistan Airways (ten percent of all aircrafts' cost), through the loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (50 percent) and loans from foreign banks (40 percent).

Uzbekistan Airways, monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan, is wholly owned by the state.

The company now has 27 planes of western production. Including nine Boeing (four 767-300 and five 757-200), thirteen Airbus (three A-310 and ten A-320-200), three medium-RJ-85 and two cargo Airbus A300-600F.

The National Airline of Uzbekistan increased passenger transportation (2.16 million passengers) by 14.3 percent in 2010 compared to 2009.

The passenger transportation to the CIS countries increased by over 11 percent. It also increased by 17 percent to the foreign countries.

Uzbekistan Airways, the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan, is fully owned by the state.

The fleet includes 27 western aircrafts, including 9 Boeing ( four Boeing 767-300 and five Boeing 757-200), thirteen airbuses (3 A310, 10 Airbus A320-200), three medium-RJ-85, and two cargo airbus A300 -600F.

The Uzbek Airline increased passenger transportation by 14.3 percent in 2010 compared to 2.16 million in 2009.

The volume of cargo traffic by the airline in 2010 increased by 63 percent - to almost 50,000 tons.

Uzbek airline carries out flights to 21 cities of Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Asia and 22 cities of the CIS countries.
