Money transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan soar

In July-October 2011, money transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan hit $1.5 billion compared to $827 million during the same period of 2010, the Central Bank of Russia said.

It was reported that in 2010, the volume of money transfers between Uzbekistan and Russia increased by 34.7 per cent, up to $3.072 billion.

In 2010 the volume of money transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan increased by 38.7 per cent - up to $2.835 billion and from Uzbekistan to Russia - decreased by 0.9 per cent to $227 million.

Uzbekistan is the leading country among the CIS countries in terms of money transfers from Russia. Tajikistan ranked second in terms of major transactions from Russia in the third quarter of 2011 and private money transfers amounted to one billion dollars.
