Azerbaijan, Israel discuss prospects of economic cooperation

The Azerbaijani delegation headed by Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev is on his visit to Israel to discuss the prospects of expanding the cooperation between the two countries in various spheres of economy from December 25, the ministry said on Monday.

The Azerbaijani delegation headed by Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev is on his visit to Israel to discuss the prospects of expanding the cooperation between the two countries in various spheres of economy from December 25, the ministry said on Monday.

Such areas as agriculture, environment, water supply, logistics, use of modern irrigation systems, alternative energy sources will be discussed.

The delegation includes the representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy, "Azersu", the Azerbaijani Investment Company, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation.

The delegation met with Israeli Energy and Water Minister Uzi Landau to discuss the current level of cooperation and its development prospects within the first day of the visit.

The Azerbaijani delegation will also hold meetings and familiarize with the activity of Israeli companies operating in various sectors based on advanced technologies.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover with Israel amounted to $697 million for 10 months of 2011 or 2.2 times less compared to the same period of last year. However, about 95 percent of the total trade turnover, or $664.26 million fell to the exports from Azerbaijan.
