Around 90 percent of Kazakhs ready to start own business

About 90 percent of Kazakhs are ready to start their own business, a poll reported.

Thirty percent of those surveyed expressed a desire to start their own business provided that administrative barriers and tax burdens are reduced and 59 per cent - provided that they get initial assistance from the state (under the "Roadmap of business - 2020" and "Employment - 2020" programs)

The Economic Development and Trade Ministry reported that the number of active entities of small and medium enterprises amounted to 694,900 as of Dec.1, 2011. Their production amounted to 7.422 trillion tenge (exchange rate is 148.4 tenge to $1). In 2011 according to the World Bank's report Kazakhstan in "Doing Business-2012" ranking rose by 11 positions and took 47th place.

In order to decrease thhe administrative burden on business, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed on July 15, 2011 a law on improvement of licensing system under which cancellation of 348 licenses of 1,015 revealed is envisaged. For the development of regional entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan "Roadmap of business - 2020" program operates, which members have already signed 741 contracts backing and "Employment - 2020" program, where 618 participants got micro credits.
