Metallurgy is a leader in the total manufacturing industry of Kazakhstan and continues to show a positive trend, Ministry of Information Industry and Trade of Kazakhstan said on Friday.
The share of metallurgy accounts for half the total manufacturing output of the country.
A press release says that the mining and metallurgical industry of the country began to produce 1.5 times more output compared to 1990 due to state support as part of an industrialisation programme. This figure increased by seven per cent from January to November 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.
Some 36 projects were launched and 13,000 people received a permanent job lasting two years. High-tech exports also increased by 45 per cent in a10-month period of 2011.
