Roughly 69 settlements in Kazakhstan's Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions, where more than 400,000 people live, will be protected from flooding thanks to the Koksarai counter-regulator commissioned in 2011 over the Syr Darya River, the Kazakh PM's website reported on Thursday.
In addition, Koksarai counter-regulator will help to save the water to fill the Aral Sea and watering of rural lands.
