Afghanistan interested in Turkmenistan’s building materials

Director of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Afghan Province of Herat Hatebi Haji Sakhd is on a visit to the Turkmen capital, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Friday.

The Afghan delegation held a series of meetings with representatives of the Construction Materials Ministry and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. 'They exchanged views on the prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation', the newspaper reported.

Discussions took place on the opportunities of further partnership and advancing previously reached agreements in the trade and economic areas and in the field of construction and other sectors. The Afghan delegation also visited JSC Turkmenmermer.

According to the report, representatives of the Afghan delegation expressed 'deep gratitude to Turkmenistan for constant assistance and full support to the Afghan people and expressed interest in expanding productive interaction'.

Ashgabat provides its neighbour with electricity on a concessional basis. It plans to expand cooperation in transport and cargo trade. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project is considered as a key project.

The total length of the pipeline is 1735 kilometres and passing through the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan, will reach the Fazilka settlement in India, along the Pakistan-Indian border. Its capacity is 33 billion cubic metres of gas per year.
