In 2011, Azerbaijan imported 1.83 million tons of cement and cement clinkers, or 14.5 percent more than the same period of 2010, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee told Trend on Friday.
Cement and cement clinkers in 2011 was imported at $93.75 million, or 22.6 percent more than 2010.
Cement clinkers in 2011 was imported in the volume of 786,300 tons worth $34.36 million, which is more than 2010 by 22.2 and 15.8 percent respectively. Clinkers were imported in the volume of 1.04 million tons worth about $59.4 million, or 9.3 percent more than the same period of 2010, in value terms - by 26.9 percent more.
In January 2012, Azerbaijan produced 98,100 tons of cement, which is 4.9 percent less than the same period of 2011.
