Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Feb. 27 / Trend H. Hasanov /
Besides the investment stimulation of relevant sectors of the Turkmen economy, Turkmenistan is ready to follow the way of many advanced Asian countries to welcome the production capacity of the world's largest high-tech brands on its soil, newly elected Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in an interview with Russian journal Turkmenistan.
"This is a global trend," he said. "Our natural resources and reserves of skilled manpower enable us to offer favourable conditions for potential partners."
The President said that Turkmenistan has a package of perspective proposals from well-known manufacturers. It will be able to choose the most profitable ones in the near future.
Speaking about the development of the country's own production sector, President Berdimuhamedov said that the support of a favourable investment climate is required.
"It is necessary to conduct much work to create new, modern production facilities with a full processing cycle," he said. "The matter rests in all areas of the national economy whether it be a fuel and energy complex, the chemical industry, agriculture or the production of building materials and other directions."
Turkmenistan managed to bring the level of raw cotton processing to domestic enterprises with a percentage share of the annual harvest to a 50 per cent level during the year of independence.
"We cannot put up with the fact that, given our ambitious construction plans, we are still importing many building materials," the president said.
The President said that besides achieving macroeconomic objectives, this course will provide the population with guaranteed jobs.
"It is clear that we cannot do without the experience of the world's best manufacturers in this complex, multifaceted process," he said. "We need support for a favourable investment climate in the country."
Turkmenistan holds one of key positions on natural gas supplies in the region with Russia, China and Iran as importers.
