Uzbek Labour Minister to report to MPs

Starting from this year Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Uzbekistan will report to MPs on the implementation of employment programs, Uzbek parliamentary committee on labour and social issues told Trend on Tuesday.

According to the Committee, the main purpose of these hearings is a practical solution to the issues of employment, increase in population's income and living standards, employment of graduates, the effective use of existing capacity of areas and sectors of the economy, workplace organization, further increase in the responsibility of local authorities.

According to the program of creating jobs and providing employment for 2012, creation of more than 967,000 jobs, of which about 600,000 - in the countryside is planned in 2012.

This includes plans to create more than 64 percent of new jobs by stimulating development of small business, entrepreneurship and farming, and more than 28 percent - due to the establishment of new businesses, expansion of various forms of home work. Issue of employment of professional colleges' graduates, the number of whom only this year will amount to 516,000 also remains a pressing one.

In this regard the need for a strong parliamentary control over the process of creating jobs and providing employment will increase.
