From May 1 Azerbaijan will impose a ban on vehicles without anti-lock braking system (ABS) and airbags, the report of the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents said on Tuesday.
"In accordance with the requirements of national standard AZS 635-2012 "Procedure of certification of wheeled vehicles, their equipment and parts", from May 1, 2012 road vehicles (except for the four-wheel drive) imported into Azerbaijan or produced within the country, must have ABS and at least one airbag," the statement said.
No permission will be issued for manufacture and imports of such vehicles.
Earlier Azerbaijan imposed a ban on the import of cars that do not meet Euro-2 emission standards.
