Baku branch of NBP Bank enters market of payment cards

Baku branch of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP Bank) plans to launch local production of plastic cards to mid-2012, Deputy General Manager of the bank Sahib Guliyev told Trend on Tuesday.

"We plan to release local cards during the first stage, but international cards also will be issued in the future," Guliyev said.

Cards of NBP Bank will be served by Milli Kart processing center. The agreement has already been signed in this regard. Some 250 - 300 cards will be issued during the first stage, but it is difficult to clarify the exact number of ATMs and POS terminals, which is planned to install, Guliyev said.

Milli Kart, established on July 14, 2006, served cards of 12 Azerbaijani banks.
Baku branch of NBP Bank operates in Azerbaijan since July 2005. Assets of the subsidiary amounted to 11 million manat at the end of 2011, the loan portfolio - 4.3 million manat, deposit portfolio - 0.9 thousand manat. The authorized capital exceeds 10 million manat and total capital - 10.3 million manat.

National Bank of Pakistan was established in 1949. It was created with 75-percent participation of the Government of Pakistan. Today, NBP Bank has 39 overseas branches. Then Bank is represented only in Baku among the South Caucasus countries.
