Kazakhstan considerably increased gold and silver production in January- February 2012 compared to the same period of 2011

Kazakhstan considerably increased gold and silver production in January- February 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with reference to the Kazakh Statistics Agency.

Raw, semi-finished and powder gold production increased by 24.2 percent in Kazakhstan to 5.926 tons in January-February 2012 compared to the same period of 2011. In 2011 raw gold production hit 36.67 tons in Kazakhstan (21.1-percent increase compared to the figure in 2010).

According to the Agency, raw, semi-finished and powder silver production increased by 2.5 times to 131.867 tons in January-February 2012, while raw zinc production increased by 1.4 percent to 52,259 tons.

Refined raw, unalloyed copper production increased by 0.1 percent to 56,256 tons during this period.
