Cargo transportation ups by 19.9 percent in Kazakhstan in January-February

Kazakhstan increased cargo transportation by 19.9 percent in January-February 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, Kazakh Statistics Agency reported.

Cargo transshipment via railway increased by 7 percent, cargo transshipment via remaining land transport increased by 23.9 percent, sea and coastal transshipment increased by 20.5 percent, air transshipment fell by 47.6 percent in Kazakhstan during the reporting period.

Gas transportation via pipelines increased by 8.3 percent, oil transportation via pipelines decreased by 5.2 percent in January-February 2012 compared to the same period of 2012.

Passenger transportation increased by 25.7 percent in Kazakhstan during the reporting period, including a 109-percent increase was observed in passenger transportation via railway, a 25.7-percent increase was observed in passenger transportation via other land transport and a 20-percent increase in passenger transportation via air transport.

Kazakhstan's population hits 16 million.
