The reconstruction of the chemical industry in the Balkan region is scheduled in the near future, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said on Monday.

New factories with a production capacity of 250 tons of iodine and 2400 tons of bromine a year - in Balkanabat, 300 tons of iodine and 4500 tons of bromine a year - in Khazar will be built by the request of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern

According to the information there are rich resources of sodium sulfate, bischofite, epsomite, Glauber's salt, minerals and other elements of the periodic table in the Gulf of Garabogaz.

The construction of a new plant for the production of urea with a design capacity of 640,000 tons per year is also planned. At this stage technical iodine and bromine, volumes of which increases from year to year, are produced in the Balkan Region.
