Uzbekistan has fully fulfilled its obligations on natural gas supplies to Tajikistan, Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company (NHC) said on Sunday.
"The contract, signed on Jan.5, 2012 between the Joint-Stock Company Uztransgaz (a subsidiary of NHC Uzbekneftegaz) and Joint-Stock Company Tajiktransgas guaranteed supply of natural gas to the Republic of Tajikistan only for the first quarter of 2012 in the amount of 45 million cubic meters. Obligations between two enterprises are fully fulfilled and in this regard various insinuations about stopping gas supplies to Tajikistan are groundless," the Holding said in its press release.
Earlier, international media outlets with reference to a source in the State Company Tajiktransgas reported that Uzbekistan has notified Tajikistan about stopping supply of natural gas to this country due to lack of gas resources from April 1.
