Number of horses increases in Kazakhstan

The number of horses has increased by 5.2 percent in Kazakhstan, in 2011, sheep and goats - by 0.6 percent, poultry - by 0.3 percent, Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan said on Wednesday.

At the same time the number of cattle reduced by 7.7 percent, according to the Agency.

Livestock mainly concentrated in the private households. It is 76.7 percent of cattle, 67.0 percent of sheep and goats, 72.5 percent of pigs, 62.7 percent of the horses, 64.2 percent of camels.
More than half of the poultry (58.2 percent) accounts for agricultural farms.

Meat production increased by 0.5 percent, and wool - by 2.2 percent compared to 2010. Milk production of all types fell by 2.8 percent, eggs of all types - by 0.1 percent.
